Elewana means to understand one another, reach agreement, live peacefully with each other in Swahili. The intention of the Lodges is to co-exist with the surrounding nature peacefully or without disturbing the environment and also enforcing and supporting conservation efforts in the different Conservancies
Who Owns The Elewana Collection
The Lodges are owned by Entrepreneur Karim Wissanji.He is also involved with Business enterprises from Lodges to Flying to Banks. Some of other notable Enterprises in hospitality that he is also a director include the Sopa Lodges.

Meaning of Loisaba
The names comes from Loikop people these are communities in the regions north and west of Mt Kenya and east and south of Lake Turkana who are related to the Maasai.

With an almost perfect score of 4.9/5,the lodge is designed on a small hill (Kopje), its the most famous of all the lodges because of the rich history as one of Africa’s most famous lion -Elsa.
Born Free was based on Elsa which a lioness raised by Original Conservationist George Adamson before conservation was a ”THING” .The lodge is built immediately above George Adamson original base camp where he used to raise lions. The lodge is located in Meru National which sits on 215,000 acres of African Landscape.
On its 20th Anniversary the lodge had a very special Guest: Virginia McKenna who was on the 1966 movie Born Free. The lodge was built by Stephano Cheli who designed the Lodge to blend in seamlessly with the small Hill.
